Apple is working on battery pack accessory that will wirelessly connect to anusing the company’s MagSafe system, according to a report from Bloomberg on Friday.
Apple introduceas part of its iPhone 12 lineup last October. It’s reminiscent of , where the power cord auto-attached and easily popped off. The battery pack, which has reportedly been in development for at least a year, would join a slew of magnetic MagSafe accessories that snap onto the back of the iPhone 12, such as cases, chargers, mounts and a wallet.
The MagSafe battery pack would reportedly only provide additional charge, and not include. Some prototypes of the accessory have had a white rubber exterior, according to Bloomberg.
Development of the battery pack has been slowed due to software issues and other problems, according to Bloomberg, and there’s a chance the accessory could face delays or be scrapped all together.
Apple didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
